alarmo is a non-profit organization founded in 2021 and got registered as a public trust in 2022. It was during 2018 when Kerala was severely hit by the devastating flood our founder Akhina was involved in volunteering for the relief activities then the youth initiative gave birth to an organization called Fireflies which focuses on empowering youth to involve in societal development. During the work at fireflies and later at Goonj Akhina realized the lack of environmental responsibility among people and she was confused about the next step. Later she joined in kanthari international institute for leadership training. It was during the kanthari course that Akhina’s confusion helped her to found alarmo a non-profit organization that focuses on empowering children to become climate leaders. She was very much interested to work with children as she identified the potential among children during her previous works in Goonj and Fireflies. alarmo stands for conserving the environment for children and we want the children to come forward and act for the environment.
